My exhibition.

This year, was the year that I got to display my work in my very own exhibition. It was my time to shine and show off my artistic talent. I thought hard and wisely about what would be my theme and during the process of writing out my own brief my ideas were up and down. I am not a planner when it comes to my work, my ideas usually come to me as the time flows. I found it difficult to set a plan for myself as I knew things may change through time, and they did. My first idea was to do a series of paintings and photographs of the elderly and the older generation as I have always enjoyed focusing on the textural skin and tones and looking into depth behind the stories my nan likes to tell. I did not choose to use this as my final brief as it is only an interest of mine. I realized later that my exhibition should be something that fully describes what my art work is about and to use a subject that I enjoy working in the most, an ambitious theme. This being; "Mask's and Hidden Identity" a theme used in a surreal manner. As my work has always been based around this I firstly thought I should work with something different in my exhibition. In the end I decided to use this idea mainly because it's what I enjoy most. I knew it would be great fun to build my own idea's in this and to show them off later on. This subject isn't a subject that is an artistic interest to me but it is also a way of representing  my character.
In my final outcomes I used a variety of techniques in order to experiment. I had the most fun as throughout my work I did a series of performing.
Before putting up my boards I did a quick design in my sketchbook of how I wanted my work to be exhibited. The one change in this was the plaster mould faces set in the frame. The gold, vintage frame was originally planned to be used in my big painting with the horse mask. During the process of setting up I messed around with different ideas and looked at this from different prospective s to see if a change would be worth it, and it was. I felt the faces settled beautifully inside the frame, better than the painting.
The jar was displayed separately as it was something the class and I did on the side to exhibit. In this we could include anything we like as we were told to use the jar as an experimental piece.
Finally, the exhibition evening had arrived and everything went as good as planned, even better. My favorite display was my stop motion. I noticed that people were taking the most interest in this when coming by my work. I loved seeing their reactions. The reaction's that I wanted and better. Overall, It was a great honor to have my work being displayed and my exhibition was a success.
