Another lesson with the life model had come along and in this lesson I chose to photograph and draw the model experimenting with light, shade and composition. In each and everyone of the following photographs I notice a great amount of light and shadows hitting her skin as they form shapes.
I first started off with a portrait. This way I had the lamp stood near and looking down upon the character in order to capture light and shadows on the face and how they look on close ups. After doing this It was brought to my attention that I could draw using a new technique. This is to focus on the shapes of the shadows instead of working from the obvious.
Later on I asked the model could she pose for me using closed poses also modelling her vintage styled cowboy hat. I chose to photograph this pose to focus on the light in a different direction and to experiment and show proof of how much light is exactly being hit.
As well as showing proof of light, shadows and composition I photographed this model to look beyond that. This is seen in the second photograph as I feel signs of emotion behind it. She is curled up in a ball with her hat covering her face almost as if she is depressed. The white sheet in the background could represent loneliness in a large space.
The last photograph however is my all time favourite as it is Man Ray inspired. The inspiration came from this photograph of his:

I noticed in this that although the photograph is taken from behind it doesn't just show the obvious. It forms a shape in itself making us public question what it is exactly. I composed my model to show my interpitation of a new shape being formed from using a persons body. I am pleased with my outcome.
